Dr. Sybril Bennett, professor of journalism at Belmont University in Nashville, will take the international stage at the Web Summit--the premier global conference gathering the world’s leading thinkers and doers in technology--in Dublin, Ireland from Oct. 30 to 31.

In her latest book “Innovate: Lessons from the Underground Railroad,” Dr. Syb explains how the Underground Railroad is among the most effective, disruptive and innovative networks in American history, and compares it to the Internet by establishing how the past and the present virtually collide to create the future in real time.

Dr. Syb is a Vanderbilt-educated, Harvard-trained, two-time Emmy award-winning journalist with more than 20 years of professional experience in the traditional and social media fields. She's worked ABC in Milwaukee, CBS in Chicago and CBS in Nashville.
